Contractors ETC – Sales Landing Page

Contractors ETC hired FusionDesigns Web, Inc. to develop strategically designed sales landing pages for their continuing education marketing promotion. Contractors in the State of Florida must stay on top of the ir continuing education and make sure they meet their CE requirements every two years. In an effort to gain new customers and to notify contractors that have not completed CE hour requirements, Contractors ETC needed a landing page that was going to be used in conjunction with a direct mail piece that was emailed to contractors. Contractors now have a landing page that is targeting their needs and providing them with the information they need right away. They also have a call to action requiring them to enter their Name and Email address in order to gain access to industry information that will help their businesses. We also developed an interactive online exam that the contractor can use to test their knowledge and see if they know the answers to some of the questions that are most frequently answered incorrectly.

I have read several articles about iPad for eLearning and I believe that we are missing the point. Why iPad was created? iPad was not created for supporting eLearning and (or) mLearning instead it was created as a media device that supports books, magazines, newspapers, games, music, video and web access.

So the question is, why all the professionals involved in the e-Learning industry care about the use of iPad for eLearning?

The answer is simple. Because, learning with iPad is actually a reality but not with the same processes that we used to develop eLearning courses.

Asynchronous eLearning
I read all the time “iPad is not supporting Flash”. Come on guys. Do you really believe that we cannot create an eLearning course without Flash? Maybe some organizations wish about that. But guess. Yes we can! As the demand for eLearning courses developed for iPad increases you should be sure that the major organizations in the eLearning industry will find a solution such as eFront (LMS) and Lectora (Authoring Tool).

Synchronous eLearning
iPad does not have an integrated camera but it supports video calls with FaceTime video calling. As you can understand it has a microphone and speakers that can be used with Skype and Google Voice. You should be sure that organizations involved in the eLearning industry will develop applications for videoconference specific for iPad. The first company that will develop an application like that will dominate the eLearning market for iPad.

The WordPress team has revealed their plans for the next major version of WordPress, version 3.2, today. Version 3.1 of the popular blogging software was released in late February of this year.

With the release of version 3.2, WordPress hopes to begin a faster release cycle of their software, which has been relatively slow since the release of version 3 last year. Also, the company revealed their plans to drop support for older technologies, such as Internet Explorer 6, PHP 4, and MySQL 4, further improving the performance and development of WordPress. Improvements to the full-screen editor will also be included in version 3.2. Next, as of version 3.2, only files that were modified in the release will be written to the server, rather than all of the WordPress files.

Faster release cycle than 3.1 — more focused release. I’ll be taking point on this release, making sure people stay on target and making sure we don’t try to slip “one more thing” in. Don’t make me get mean.

The theme is “faster, lighter.” We’re dropping support for outdated technologies. We’re looking at making things faster, and we’re looking at making the writing experience more lightweight and calming.

List Tables API improvements (Westi and Koop) — finalize the API for third party use and more flexibility.

List Table XHR loading — to be investigated only after List Table API has stabilized. Make sure it’s worth it before we burn time on it.

PHP 5.2 (5.2.4, specifically) to be required. Drop compat. But don’t go adding a bunch of PHP5 stuff. This release is about dropping the old, not adding the new. More red than green.

MySQL 5 to be required. This quite literally involves no work beyond changing the requirements. Do not change queries.

IE6 EOL for the admin. If BrowseHappy is updated in time, we can consider adding a “use a real browser” nag for IE6 users. We probably can’t drop much CSS, as IE7 shares a lot of the issues. This is mostly symbolic, and reduces the platform combos we need to test. This also means any security issues that are shown to only affect IE6 only can be lowered in priority.

Distraction Free Writing. This is our headline “ooh, shiny” user feature. Replace our current fullscreen implementation with something more beautiful, more useful (in terms of line-length and font size), and simpler (only limited RTE functionality). Look at WriteRoom, OmmWriter, http://www.quietwrite.com/ for inspiration. Koop is investigating this, and may crank out a quick plugin to jump-start development efforts

Upgrade improvements. Changed-files-only upgrades can be done with zero changes to core. For the first effort, let’s just do updates to the latest point-point from within the same major version. So, 3.2 to 3.2.2 and 3.2.1 to 3.2.2. Optionally consider scanning for changed core files and offering them a full upgrade to overwrite those changed files.

Speed improvements. There are a bunch of little things we can do to make WordPress load or at least “feel” faster. Nacin is looking at PHP lazy loading. He also is working on a patch to make the admin menu load faster by doing the expansion in PHP. We can make the dashboard faster by not doing async requests for panes if the cache is hot. Dion has some FTP improvements that should make upgrades a lot faster for people using a certain FTP server. Everyone can get involved here. Pick sometime small and manageable that will make WordPress a little faster. Together, they’ll add up to a bullet point in the release post.

No release date or timeframe has been given for WordPress version 3.2 at this time.

A Joomla developer normally comes across many difficulties that are hard to answer. These can be why iframe or inline frames cannot be used on a site. Some might ask whether it is possible to place any page from one of the older sites of the site owner within Joomla to the site that web developer is currently working on.

Being a professional, one may say it is not that easy but the Joomla developer has to think how to do it and satisfy the client. The truth is that it is actually not that difficult.

It’s essential that one must know the administrator area for the Joomla site. Secondly, being a developer it is expected that you are aware what iframes are and how they work.

You should try to determine the factor responsible for failure of embedment of iframe. It may be because you’ve been blacklisted. All versions of this content management system since version 1.5.8 are coming out with a blacklist function that prevents the site from accepting certain actions that can give rise to some security problems. This in essence prevents the posting of embedded files due to lack of authorization.

First, you will need to get permission so as to embed the files and confirm the site protection against other users looking for files implantation. The procedure is to visit the content menu and select the article manager. Select the parameters tab in the upper right corner of the site.

There will be a pop up new window. Scroll it down to the filter options and select all in exception to the ‘Super Administrator’. Then click on save and close it. These steps followed above will let anyone log in as Super Administrator for embedment of any code. In addition these steps will also make the embedment more secure and prevent any user to tag malicious codes. It is only after making these modifications that one can authorize the code embedment. Even after making such efforts articles are not accepting the code and then it might be because of Tiny MCE. It is an editor program of the page which appears as an editing toolbar at the top of the article body. Further, MCE also provides full security against all breaches.

For this one has to shut down the Tiny MCE before one can implant anything. To turn it off you need to visit the site menu and open the user manager. Select the super administrator and under parameters change the user editor to ‘no editor’ from MCE. Save the changes made and return back to the post on which you were working. Make sure that there are no editing tools on the top of body. If the tools are not present then only one can paste the iframe code into the text box of article body. There would be no problem and it would be done without any confusion.

Thus anyone can embed the iframe and clients will be impressed automatically on finding a solution to their problem.
